Homebound’s Founding Story and Unique Building Solution Featured on CNBC

CNBC recently featured our CEO, Nikki Pechet, and one of Homebound’s first clients, Richard Hicks, in a segment highlighting how California wildfires drove Homebound to develop a unique solution to rebuilding at scale.

“I watched the community around me burning down. And we quickly assembled a team of friends and family who felt like we needed to find a way to get the community back.” — Nikki Pechet

Rebuilding at Scale

“My home and all of my neighbors’ homes were reduced to ashes. We essentially lost everything.” — Richard Hicks

Richard Hicks, like thousands of others, lost his home in the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Rebuilding so many homes at once was impossible for Santa Rosa’s workforce to handle. Nikki saw how challenging this was for her neighbors so she set out to create a better way to build. Using technology and leveraging external labor markets, Homebound’s unique operational model can cut the time it takes to build a home in half.

Proprietary Platform

Technology is essential to Homebound’s building model. Our proprietary Homeowner Portal (HOP) allows homeowners to make decisions easily, track progress on their build, access important documents, and communicate with their Project Manager, all in one place.

Climate Change Resilience

Climate change will continue to impact the way we live and build moving forward. Homebound is working to build more resilient and sustainable homes and communities by utilizing best practices like creating defensible landscapes, using more resilient materials, and implementing firewise home design. These strategies can significantly improve the probability of a home’s survival in these events. Though it should be noted that homes can never be fire-proof, only more fire-resistant.

“Being back among my neighbors and bringing the neighborhood back to life… I feel like I’m back home again.” — Richard Hicks

Homebound is driven to make rebuilding easier and more efficient for homeowners and builders alike to get people like Richard back home quicker. For more information on Homebound and how we can help your community, visit homebound.com to speak with a team member today.
